Tonight is the grand opening of Robert’s Rebellion: The Roleplay. Everyone has been preparing extremely hard for this. We’ve got an amazing group here. And just because we’re starting tonight doesn’t mean we don’t need more characters. Plenty are available and ready for grabs. And don’t forget character suggestions are always welcome.

Mace Tyrell | Early 20’s | FC: Zachary Levi | Open
Lord Mace Tyrell is Lord of Highgarden, Defender of the Marches, High Marshal of the Reach, and Warden of the South. His sole military accomplishment is the Siege of Storm’s End. Though he has tried to use the Battle of Ashford as evidence of strategic brilliance, he actually had little to do with the fighting as the battle was won by his vanguard led by Randyll Tarly before Mace’s main force even entered the field.

Balon Greyjoy | FC: Tom Hiddleston | Taken
Balon Greyjoy is a member of House Greyjoy. He is Lord of the Iron Islands and proclaimed himself king twice. He is a follower of the old custom of the Ironborn and tried to bring them back to prominence. Balon was the eldest surviving son of Quellon Greyjoy and a woman of House Sunderly. It is not clear when he was born. During Robert’s Rebellion, he decided to remain neutral.

Rickard Stark | FC: Colin Firth | Open
Rickard Stark was the head of House Stark and Lord of Winterfell who lived and died before the events of the books. He was the father of Eddard Stark. Like most Starks he was a friend of the Night’s Watch.
The son of Edwyle Stark, Rickard and his wife had four children: Brandon born in 261 AL, Eddard, 263 AL, Lyanna, 267 AL and Benjen Stark. He negotiated the betrothal of Brandon to Catelyn Tully and Lyanna to Robert Baratheon.
Before any of the marriages could take place Lyanna disappeared. Brandon held Rhaegar Targaryen, the heir to the throne, responsible and went with a small company of young nobles to King’s Landing to challenge Rhaegar. Aerys II had them all imprisoned on charges of conspiring to kill the crown prince and summoned the fathers to answer for the crimes of their sons. The nobles went and were immediately murdered with their sons by Aerys. Rickard was cooked alive in his armor. As was his right he had demanded a trial by combat. Aerys said he granted Rickard’s request but as according to Aerys, the Targaryen champion was fire. He had Rickard burned by lighting a fire beneath him while Rickard was dressed in his armor. Brandon was made to watch his father die with a noose around his neck and a sword just out of his reach. Trying to reach the sword to save his father Brandon strangled himself.
In the crypts of Winterfell there is an engraving of Rickard on his tomb. Rickard’s engraving is said to match his appearance in life with a “long, stern face.”
Rickard was succeeded by his second son Eddard. Together with Jon Arryn and Robert Baratheon, Eddard led the revolt against the Targaryens that overthrew their regime.

Barristan Selmy | Forty-five | FC: Patrick Wilson | Taken
Ser Barristan Selmy, called “Barristan the Bold,” is a celebrated hero and knight of the Kingsguard, serving throughout a time when the Kingsguard were considered to be the greatest knights of the realm.
He was named to the Kingsguard at the age of twenty-three and swore his vows before Ser Gerold Hightower, during the reign of Jaehaerys II. In joining the Kingsguard he gave up the claim to his family seat, and the girl he was to wed was married to his cousin instead. He defeated Prince Rhaegar Targaryen in the final joust to win the tourney held at Storm’s End.
He, like his other sworn brothers of the Kingsguard, was present at the tournament at Harrenhal. He was infatuated by the Lady Ashara Dayne, though he knew nothing could come of his desire for her. He planned on naming her Queen of Love and Beauty if he won the tournament, but was unhorsed by Rhaegar Targaryen. Rhaegar then crowned Lyanna Stark, setting off a chain of events that led to Robert’s Rebellion. Selmy wonders if he could have averted the war if he had defeated Rhaegar in the tournament. He also fantasizes that, if he had won the tourney and crowned her, perhaps Ashara wouldn’t have been “dishonored at Harrenhal,” and would have turned to him “instead of Stark.” He thinks of the consequences of his unspoken love for Ashara as one of his many failures.
During the War of the Usurper, after the defeat of Lord Jon Connington at the Battle of the Bells, Ser Barristan, with Ser Jonothor Darry was sent to rally the remnants of Connington’s army. He was severely wounded at the Battle of the Trident. Though he fought bravely for the Targaryens during the rebellion which overthrew them, Barristan later took Robert Baratheon’s pardon and became the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard of Robert’s Kingsguard.

Arthur Dayne | FC: Chris Hemsworth | Taken
Ser Arthur Dayne, known as the Sword of the Morning, was a famed knight and a member of Aerys II’s Kingsguard. He was one of Prince Rhaegar’s closest friends.
His accomplishments include defeating the Kingswood Brotherhood. He got the smallfolk to love him by paying for what he and his forces took and taking the their grievances before King Aerys II. In the end he slayed the Smiling Knight and ended the threat of the Brotherhood. Following that victory, he knighted Jaime Lannister, who would later become a sworn brother of the Kingsguard.
He broke twelve lances against Prince Rhaegar Targaryen in a tourney held at Storm’s End, losing to the prince. At the Tourney at Harrenhal, he was defeated by Prince Rhaegar once again.
He wielded the sword called Dawn as part of his office as “Sword of the Morning”, carrying it slung across his back. He died at the Tower of Joy fighting Eddard Stark and his companions, but the exact circumstances of his death are unclear. In a memory of his father, Bran Stark recalls Eddard describe Arthur Dayne as “the finest knight I ever saw,” and elaborates further that Dayne would have killed him “but for Howland Reed.”

Tywin Lannister | Forty | FC: Younger Charles Dance | Taken
Tywin Lannister is Lord of Casterly Rock, Shield of Lannisport and Warden of the West. A calculating, ruthless, and controlling man, Tywin is one of the most powerful lords in Westeros. He is the father of Jaime, Cersei, and Tyrion Lannister. He loves his children Jaime and Cersei, but despises Tyrion. This is partly because Tyrion is deformed, but also Tywin blames his son for causing his beloved wife Joanna’s death during his birth, as well as for shaming the family name with his frequent whoring.
Tywin was a powerful Hand of the King for many years under Aerys II until Aerys’ increasing paranoia and jealousy drove the two into several bitter disagreements. According to Ser Barristan Selmy Aerys lusted after Tywin’s wife when she was alive (Aerys’s own marriage was arranged) which caused further friction between the two. After Aerys refused to marry Cersei to his heir, Prince Rhaegar, and raised Jaime to the Kingsguard without Tywin’s assent, Tywin resigned the position of Hand and returned to his own lands. During Robert’s Rebellion Tywin remained at Casterly Rock, taking no side until after Robert’s decisive victory at the Battle of the Trident. After the battle, Tywin mustered his forces and rode for the capital of King’s Landing. After Aerys was convinced by Grand Maester Pycelle that Tywin had come to aid him, he ordered the gates of the city opened. Tywin’s forces brutally sacked the city, Jaime slew the Mad King, while knights sworn to Tywin slew Rhaegar’s wife and children, Tywin then wrapped the bodies in crimson Lannister cloaks (to better conceal the blood) and presented them to Robert as a token of fealty.
This act also secured the new King’s marriage to his daughter Cersei, whose proposed betrothal to Prince Rhaegar Targaryen had been rejected by King Aerys much to Tywin’s bitter disappointment. Cersei’s marriage to the new, young, and popular King did much to make up for Tywin’s earlier disappointment.

Edmure Tully | Nine | FC: Ryan Turner | Reserved
Edmure Tully was born as the third child and only living son of Hoster Tully and Minisa Whent. His mother died when he was very young. As a youth he was known as hot-headed but good-hearted. He had a number of friends who had similar characteristics.

Jon Arryn | Fifty-seven | FC: Liam Neeson | Open
Lord Jon Arryn was Lord of the Eyrie, Defender of the Vale and Warden of the East. Jon fostered Eddard Stark and Robert Baratheon as his wards in the Vale. As they grew, the two boys became close companions and regarded Jon as a second father. After Aerys II demanded that Jon turn them over for a likely execution, Jon refused and raised his banners in revolt. After fighting with several lords who resisted the rebellion, Jon fought in the Battle of the Bells and the Battle of the Trident. When Robert Baratheon ascended to the Iron Throne, he appointed Jon as his Hand.
